Is there a barrel code on a Remington 550?
There maybe a barrel code though. If shooting the gun on the left side of the barrel near the reciever there maybe multiple stampings. On the homepage of this site there is a section that says manufacture dating. It will ealk you through and tell you how to date your rifle. Having a hard time relating the barrell code and date tables to my barrell.

Remington made use of a two or three letter Firearms Identification Code that can be located on the left side of the barrel, just ahead of the frame. The first letter of the code identifes the month, the other letter (s) identify the year.
